Eating Alone Means You’re Secure

There are so many people in this world who find it incredibly uncomfortable to go to a restaurant and eat by yourself. I have to say, that I have never had a problem with it.

Typically I don’t go to fancy restaurants by myself, but coffee shops, pizza joints, and sports bars all the time. Anyone who knows me can tell you that I am a huge socialite and prefer being in the presence of other people; however eating by myself is actually one of my favorite things to do. I never go with nothing to do, I usually bring my laptop so I can work on my blog and I never go anywhere without my journal because I get inspired constantly but even when I am writing, I still love to people watch…

There was one New Year Eve that I actually spent at the House of Blues by myself watching a band. I had no one to bring in the New Year with and I had just turned 21 so there was no way I was going to waste it. New Years is my favorite holiday and  all of my friends either weren’t celebrating, or were going somewhere that was beyond out of my budget. But the way I saw it was “I can stay home and mope about it, or I can go somewhere by myself”. I was shameless. I got there, and the guy at the door checking IDs wished me a Happy Birthday as my birthday was only 2 days prior. There were tons and tons of people there, I felt beautiful, I got a seat at the bar, and the band was fun! We even did a count down to New Years. I have NO REGRETS!

The way I see it, having the ability to go out alone, makes you secure with who you are. I have one friends who went on a month long trip to Europe alone and still talks about it, and I have another friend who went to Disneyland alone and had so much fun she let the world know on Instagram. I admire them for that.

I understand the insecurity of feeling awkward and appearing like you don’t have any friends, but nobody really knows your story right? Besides you might walk in alone and walk out with a new best friend!

So those of you who are afraid to eat alone, travel alone, or venture off alone, I encourage you to try it. Who knows, you might surprise yourself and LOVE it. Let me know how it goes! XOXO
